Taking a blood thinner like XARELTO® is an important part of your post-surgery care plan. Usually, you’ll receive a supply while you are still in the hospital. If you didn’t, make sure you fill your prescription as soon as possible after leaving—even if you need to ask a friend or family member to pick up your medication for you.
Then, make sure you understand the dosing and duration of your treatment. The table above is an example of how long you may need to take XARELTO®, but your healthcare professional will be the one to tell you exactly how long to continue taking it after your surgery.
Be sure that you will have enough XARELTO® available to avoid missing any doses. Set a reminder on your phone or put a note on your fridge or calendar to refill your prescription before you run out.
